International Cup - Lake Havasu City, AZ

Located on the scenic shores of Lake Havasu in Lake Havasu City, AZ, the Havasu Riviera Marina is a captivating waterfront destination that combines natural beauty with modern amenities. The marina also boasts an inviting waterfront promenade lined with charming shops, appealing dining options, and vibrant entertainment venues.

Adding to its appeal, the Havasu Riviera Marina will host the highly anticipated International Cup from September 28 to October 2023. This prestigious event is expected to draw participants and spectators from around the world, adding an extra layer of excitement to the marina's already vibrant atmosphere. It's an opportunity to witness top-notch international competitions and experience the energy of a global sporting event firsthand.

The 2023 Pro Watercross International Cup is sanctioned and governed by Pro Watercross and run according to the Pro Watercross rulebook. All participants must be a current Pro Watercross competition member and must present proof of valid membership to compete. Please bring your Pro Watercross membership cards with you.

BEFORE GETTING ON THE WATER

You MUST BE registered/checked in for the event – this includes a having a WRISTBAND, and your watercraft has gone through Pre-tech inspection
EARLY PRE-TECH - Wednesday 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM see SITE MAP
PRE-TECH will include BRINGING your watercraft and the necessary safety gear and equipment for your class.
After Pre-tech you will receive the OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL CUP TECH DECAL.
You are required to abide by all the rules set forth in the Pro Watercross Rule Book, this includes knowing the code of conduct and all safety rules.

ON RACE DAY

Riders Meetings is mandatory that all participants attend the published riders meeting at the scheduled time for each of the classes entered. Roll call will be taken to ensure that everyone’s smiling faces will be in attendance.
Mandatory Post-Race Tech Inspection after each moto: Every participant that finishes the race and receives the checkered flag, must immediately proceed to the tech inspection area, and submit their watercraft for inspection. Failure to submit your watercraft for inspection may cause you to be disqualified.

EVENT PARKING

Competitors are to park the tow vehicle and trailer within the pit area designated on the site map, all other personal vehicles must be parked outside the pit area. Competitors will be expected to stay in the park until the completion of days racing due to the heavy foot traffic in the area. If you are not actively participating in a race on a particular day, you may be instructed to relocate your vehicles from a specific pit area by a Pro Watercross official or the Havasu Riviera Marina staff, and it is mandatory to adhere to their instructions.

PIT VEHICLES

Pit area is for tow vehicles & trailers only:
Anyone bringing or riding an ATV/UTV into the event area acknowledges that the use of ATV/UTVs may be hazardous and has elected to voluntarily participate in this activity with full knowledge, acceptance, and assumption of any and all risks of personal injury or death. Users also acknowledge that the ATV/UTV must, at all times, be operated in a reasonable, safe and prudent manner.

WHAT RULES ARE THERE FOR YOUTH RIDERS IN ARIZONA?

All riders under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet. The helmet must be DOT approved and properly fitted and fastened. Check out the Arizona law for under the age of 18 https://www.azleg.gov/ars/28/00964.htm
Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult.
Children must ride an appropriately sized ATV.

Because of the number of people that will be attending the International Cup, pit vehicle rules will be strictly enforced. ATV/UTV's, Mules, golf carts, beach carts, etc. will be allowed to transport equipment to the water's edge/wet pits area.
There will be a 5-mile per hour speed limit set and it will be strictly enforced. Fines will be accessed to those breaking this rule.
All pit vehicles must remain in the pit area and follow the correct pathway to the race area.
Please observe the speed limit signs and watch out for pedestrians and do not wreck this privilege for all racers.
Those racers abusing the privilege will be fined and/or have their pit vehicle impounded.

AWARDS

The Pro Watercross International Cup will honor the top 3 riders in each class according to the following schedule:

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY CLASSES: The award ceremony will begin one hour post racing.
- Any classes still undergoing technical inspection at the awards ceremony's conclusion will receive their awards on the next race day.
SATURDAY CLASSES will have two categories:
- Premier classes: Awards for premier classes listed on the website will be presented on Sunday during the JR Star "Day with the Pros" event at a time to be announced.
- All other remaining classes: the award ceremony will begin one hour post racing. Any classes still undergoing technical inspection at the awards ceremony's conclusion will receive their awards on the next race day.
SUNDAY CLASSES: The award ceremony will begin one hour post racing.
- Any classes still undergoing technical inspection at the awards ceremony's conclusion will be presented with their awards once the technical inspection is completed.

PREMIER CLASSES:

Exciting news! Pro Watercross is currently finalizing an amazing cash purse... Brace yourselves, because in the Pro Ski GP class alone, we have a jaw-dropping cash prize of $12,000 up for grabs! That's right, a whopping $10,000 goes to the incredible first-place winner, while the equally talented second and third-place finishers will each walk away with a cool $1,000. Stay tuned for more thrilling updates on the sensational cash purses in store for these adrenaline-fueled races!

ALL OTHER PRO-AM CLASSES

Pro-Am classes with 10 or more entries will receive a cash purse of $1000, with $500 going to the first-place winner, $350 to the second-place winner, and $150 to the third-place winner. However, Pro-Am classes with fewer than 10 entries will not receive any payout.

2023 RULE BOOK UPDATES:

The following are specific rule adjustments for the new rulebook: REVISION C CHANGES:

Addition of the Junior Ski 8-9 class
The class allows 8-9 year olds to participate in a time trial based competition. Rule 4.1.4
A written request from the participants' parent or legal guardian is required for the Junior Ski 8-9 class. Rule 5.1.20
Additional sponson allowance for the JS 300, 400, 440 and 550 classes. Rule 24.9.2
Sponsons may be attached to the top side of the bond rail. No part of the sponson may protrude beyond the bond flange (bumper removed) by more than 2.5 inches (6.35cm). No portion of the sponson may extend downward below the top edge of the bond flange by more than 1 inch (2.54cm). Sponson length may not exceed 25 inches (63.5cm).
Adjustment to the engine case requirements for the Ski 550 Modified Class. Rule 44.8.3
OEM engine cases from a JS 300, 400, 440 or 550 must be used and may be modified. Engine components may be modified or aftermarket. Maximum displacement 650cc.
Creation of the Ski 550 Open class. Rule 44.9
This was previously the Ski 550 Modified class
The class allows for the use of any 2-cylinder watercraft engine up to 850cc.

SX-R 1500 sponsons - Adjusted length to allow up to 90 inch sponsons in a one or two piece construction - 24.9.2

Sport Stock ignition clarification - CDI units for Polaris and Yamaha models can be modified or non-programable aftermarket units. rule 32.6.1

This event has been a “must do” for all junior racers and families traveling to Lake Havasu every October. The event is held in honor of Nedra Atwood – Personal Watercraft racing’s #1 fan. Her legacy of supporting junior riders from around the world will continue at an exciting new venue.

Junior riders ages 10-16 can expect a day of fun, prizes, and special guest appearances at the “A Day with the Pros” event. Later that day, junior riders will race for the chance to be the first junior International Cup champions.

The inaugural Pro Watercross International Cup will feature racers from around the world competing in classes from young riders to premier level professionals, and feature television coverage by CBS Sports.

During the International Cup weekend, athletes and beach lifestyle enthusiasts from around the globe will gather in the Lake Havasu area. The Water Expo aims to provide manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and vendors with the perfect platform to connect with these potential customers and engage in personal interactions. AWARDS:

The Award Ceremony is scheduled to begin one-hour after the completion of the days racing.
Competitors are required to attend the award ceremony to receive prize money and awards. Competitors that cannot attend the awards ceremony must inform the Race Director and event organizer.
Competitors must make arrangements to claim their award within 30 days or forfeit the award. Should the award need to be shipped, it is the responsibility of the competitor to bear the cost for any shipping and handling fees to ship the award to the competitor.

Prior to receiving prize money, all competitors must furnish Pro Watercross with a completed W-9 form or its equivalent in their respective countries.
Taxes: All Competitors with over $600 in winnings from an individual event organizer or the Pro Watercross at the end of the calendar year will be issued a 1099 tax form for the following year for tax season.
Contingencies: It is the Competitor's responsibility to know what manufacturers and other sponsors contingency program requirements are and to follow up on all necessary procedures to collect on these programs.
